Demonstration of existing research and techniques used for building and exploring visualisations for the environment and society portal. These visualisations included time and map based display as well as keyword or tag cloud substitutes for finding keyword based data relationships.

The 4th of March was the last day for requesting a support grant to join Florence BootCamp and THATcamp. Results of the selection procedure were communicated to single applicants.

Suggesting a specific issue to be dealt with during THATcamp together with registration was the 15th of March 2011.

We remind you that the 10 € requested by day to all campers will allow you to receive a Lunch ticket and have access to two Coffee Breaks: 11.00 a.m. in the morning and 4 p.m. in the afternoon.

Ponte VecchioIn marzo 2011 the Department of History and Civilisation of the European University Institute in Florence, Italia, will host THATCamp, an important event in the field of Digital Humanities and Digital History organized by several European scholarly institutions. Italian and European Digital Humanists will be invited to meet and discuss digital scholarship and methods today. Participation is not limited to EUI members.

THATcamp (The Humanities and Technology Camp), is a so-called “un-conference” promoted by the Centro per la Storia e New Media at George Mason University in Virginia, our partner in organising this event for the first time in Italy.

THATcamp Firenze will be preceded by a Campo di addestramento, consisting of introductory courses in the Digital Humanities & Digital History provided by one or more teachers. Il Bootcamp is sponsored through the generosity of the Mellon Foundation, the Kress Foundation, and the Council on Library and Information Resources in the USA. They will provide also small individual fellowships for participants.
