October 29, 2010 That Camp Florence
In March 2011 the Department of History and Civilisation of the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, will host THATCamp, an important event in the field of Digital Humanities and Digital History organized by several European scholarly institutions. Italian and European Digital Humanists will be invited to meet and discuss digital scholarship and methods today. Participation is not limited to EUI members.
THATcamp (The Humanities and Technology Camp), is a so-called “un-conference” promoted by the Center for History and New Media at George Mason University in Virginia, our partner in organising this event for the first time in Italy.
THATCamp Florence will be preceded by a BootCamp, consisting of introductory courses in the Digital Humanities & Digital History provided by one or more teachers. The Bootcamp is sponsored through the generosity of the Mellon Foundation, the Kress Foundation, and the Council on Library and Information Resources in the USA. They will provide also small individual fellowships for participants.
Registration for THATCamp Florence is necessary and is possible until the 15th of March 2011. For more information please contact Maria Caterina Cunsolo, THATCamp Florence Officer, [/thatcampflorence]
